Mainframe Computer
Mainframe
computer likes as a big centralized machine that contains the large memory huge
space, multiple high grade processors, so it has ultra-processing power compare
to standard computer systems. A computer that serves as central support to many
users and has the storage and computing capacity needed for managing large sets
of data and files. It was first developed by J. Presper Exkert and John Mauchly
in USA, in 1951. Some Mainframe computers are IBM, Hitachi, Amadahl, etc.
- Health Care Sector: Health care organizations contain the personalized information of every patient, so they contact them for their treatment.
- Defense Sector: In the defense area, mainframe computer system is used to pass massive information in different areas with protect such as land, ship, planes, and home base as well.
- Education Sector: Education is also very big sector, such as international university where to need track lot of persons such as employees, teachers, students and other. So, this type of computer helps to store and maintain all information related to them.
- Other Applications are: Mainframe can also be used in some other sectors like, E-business, Banking sector, Stock exchange, Research center, etc.
- It is capable to process huge data and run complicated applications with ultra-computing speed.
- Mainframe computer system is able to identify their errors and bugs (errors in program), and it can self-recover of them without any other embedded resources.
- If, mainframe computer system gets errors during processing time then it is capable to fix them without degrading its performance in short duration.
- It allows to more attention on authentication protection for storing data.
Disadvantages:
- These are very expensive and cannot be used at home.
- In Mainframe computer system, we cannot used the normal Operating System, like Windows, Android, etc.
- It requires more space and less temperature.
- Difficult to read its instructions which are used on the command based interface.
